I love these guys - good selection of glasses, fun staff, and helpful optometrist
Everytime I go in, they always give me their full attention. Whenever I need a refill for my
Contacts they have it in 2-3 days which is quicker than others. I just love going to them all the time.
Been coming here 20 years and have been top notch care for those decades.
I've been a patient of Dr Somers for over 20 years now. I'm always satisfied when I leave the office. He is very thorough with exams, either for glasses or contacts. Donna always has a smile and brings laughter to the office.
I highly recommend Dr Somers.
Dr. Somers and his staff are efficient and personable. They call back to follow up as promised. Conveniently located across the street from Santa Monica UCLA Hospital, I'll definitely be back!
I have been a client for 13 years and Dr. Somers and Donna have been wonderful! They are always very friendly and helpful when you have any questions regarding your insurance or glasses, contacts, etc. Dr. Somers is very professional and is very thorough during the exam. I also like that they are open on Saturday which is very convenient. I highly recommend Computer-eye Care!
I have been a client for 13 years and Dr. Somers and Donna have been wonderful. They are always super friendly and helpful when you have any questions regarding your insurance or options for glasses, contacts, etc. Dr. Somers is very professional and is the best eye doctor I have ever had. I highly recommend Compu-eye Care! They are even open on Saturday which is very convenient.
Donna, Dr. & team are always willing to go the extra mile for my eyes health for which I am so grateful. The time and patience this staff takes with clients exudes care and professionalism which is the main reason I followed the practice from Woodland Hills to Santa Monica; well worth the time & effort. From my heart and eyes"Thank you Compu Care!" LaTanyia B.
I have been going to Dr. Somers for nearly 8 years. Great service and he has a wealth of knowledge.
I recently got new glasses from another store and they were made wrong. Dr. Somers did an inspection on them and even made notes so I could give to the store so they could fix there mistake.
My whole family goes there and I will always go back to Dr. Somers.
Dr. Somers and his staff are AWESOME.
I would rate this establishment 10 stars if I were able to. The receptionist was amazing and extremely polite and knowledgeable. I was unaware of what my insurance covered exactly. She printed out form and we went over it together. That's a positive note right off the bat. :)
The optometrist was fully knowledgeable, mentioned several different thing I could do to better my eye sign especially since I look at a computer screen basically everyday for multiple hours.
After the checkup was completed, the receptionist and I went over all of my option and we figured out, which would be the best frame that fit my face/personality. I love this establishment and will recommend to anyone, which I've already done and will not stop. I will continue to come here as well until I'm no longer living in LA. However, my dedication is so strong depending on the distance, I would gladly drive here.
Thank you for the outstanding and amazing support. :) Keep it up!
Once upon a time in a far far away land of Santa Monica there was a stubborn Russian girl who refused to wear her prescription. She searched high and low for a good eye doctor, but every single optometrist she went to made her feel uncomfortable - so she continued walking around with her not so perfect vision.
One day she was driving down Wilshire Blvd squinting so she doesn't hit a pedestrian and out of the corner of her not 20/20 eye she spotted a cute little eye doctor spot. She looked him up on yelp right away and he seemed rather comforting based on all his reviews. She decided not to waste any time and called the office right away to make an appointment. She was greeted over the phone but the sweetest lady named Donna. The Russian girl later found out that Donna was the face of the whole office and she truly makes one feel like family. Even if this girl didn't need help with her vision she will probably still come here just to say hello to Donna.
Rewind to a year later, stubborn Russian girl still refuses to wear her prescription because she hates glasses and she still hasn't come over the fear of sticking something in her eye - however she now has hope since Donna has followed up with her every single month to see how the whole eye contact thing is going. Donna's persistence to make sure that the stubborn girl can see is breaking her down in the best way possible and she is actually considering seeing the whole world high definition and not the fuzziness that she's become used to.
Donna, you are wonderful, and the stubborn Russian girl thanks you and Dr. Somers of course. See you both in 2017 for that eye contact training one more time.
One day hopefully this review changes to "the Russian girl who finally started wearing her contacts"...though this review will always stay at 5 stars because Dr. Somers and staff more than deserve it :)
Dr. Somers is extremely thorough and precise in his evaluation and care. I have been going to him for several years and always receive the best care from him and his assistant, Donna.
They both go the extra step. Can't say enough good things!
I visited them today for eye exam; my girlfriend recommended them to me.
I have been wearing glasses for 18 years and I have experienced different doctors and I have never seen any doctor check my eyes that carefully and patiently. They are great.
I am happy with the service.
I have gone to Dr Somers for years at both the Woodland Hills and Santa Monica locations. A few times I have tried other optometrists who were close to my house, but he was so much better than they were. He is very thorough, concerned, and takes as much time as is needed to make sure I have the best possible prescription for both my contacts and glasses. He really cares about his patients.
Dr. Somers is a great guy and takes excellent care of his patients. Extra points for low hassle factor.
I started going to Dr. Somers when I first moved to Santa Monica in 2013. He always makes my yearly exam enjoyable and comfortable. Dr. Somers is extremely nice, caring, and passionate about what he does. He really takes the time to ask questions about my work and lifestyle, and gives advice on the best way for me to take care of my eyes. It is by far the best experience I've had with an optometrist, my previous doctors have been hasty and made the appointments feel rushed. This one takes his time.
The office also takes care of contact lens orders swiftly and are really great at following up. This is a genuine business which I always look forward to coming to, and would recommend Dr. Somers to anyone in search of a top notch optometrist on the Westside.
How many times have you found a doctor you liked, but whose staff were so terrible that you couldn't bear to go back? All the time, right?
That was the situation with my last eye doctor. I liked him, but his stuff could not do anything right; so I left.
You won't find incompetence at this office. His assistant was gregarious, intelligent, and competent. She helped me pick out a pimp pair of eye glasses, too.
The doctor was competent and holistic. He discussed the nutritional aspects of vision (even though I knew all of that), which is something more doctors should do. Most patients do not realize that fish oil helps fish oil; that simple sugars hurt it; and a healthy diet is great for vision.
He even told me I was too stressed out, and that being so stressed out could harm my vision. He suggested Yoga. (I already do Yoga.)
A competent stuff and an eye doctor who realizes that there's more to correcting vision than just wearing lenses.
Five stars all the way.
Nice efficient doctor. His staff messed up my order but made it up by gvivng me a free pair . Been going there 10+ years. Excellent service and they send you birthday and reminder post cards. How nice !
Dr. Somers has been my eye doctor since I was 16, I am now 39 and still a patient. He is the best in the business. He truly cares about his patients. What more could you ask for?
The place is rather small...smaller than the normal optometry..but the service is excellent. Dr. Ross Somers has been working for almost 25 years and he knows almost everything and everything about eyecare. He is very caring towards his patients, and I had a great experience getting my eyes checked there. He also has a great deal where you can buy two pairs of glasses and get one of them half off, which I thought was a great deal. Though his optometry is rather cozy, it is very clean, and he also has the latest styles of Ray Bans, Vera Wang, CK, and Jhane Barnes glasses. Donna, the optician working there, is very experienced in helping you find the perfect frames for your face. Come to his place if you're looking for a quality optometrist who truly cares about your eyes. Also I suggest making an appointment because this optometry can get pretty busy.
its a cute little office. donna the optician is amazing at finding the perfect frame to match any face and has a great personality and is extremely helpful. dr. somers is kind and patient and really knows a lot about eyes. highly recommended, very clean, and they always help you get the best deal. oh and they are located next door to an awesome little cafe as well.
Last year, I cheated on my Optometrist and went to Dr. Somers in Woodland Hills. The problem with my last eye doctor was that he had gained popularity (probably because of raving Yelp reviews), and I could never get an appointment with him. Needless to say, when I realized that I had a few days left to use my flexible medical spending for the year before it disappeared (if only there was rollover!), I knew I wouldn't be seeing the old doc.
I took a chance and went to Dr. Somers. At first I was apprehensive because he didn't seem as friendly or inviting as I had known my old optometrist to be. Don't let that fool you! He knows his stuff and he cares about your eyes!! His staff made every effort to get me in during a busy weekend for the last-minute appointment. I experienced the most comprehensive eye examination...complete with a few eye tests that I had never even *seen* before. Dr. Somers even told me how to blink more efficiently (to avoid dry eyes), and supplied me with enough contact solution to get me to my next annual appointment.
Since then, he has closed CompuEye Care in Woodland Hills, but I am willing to make the trip to SaMo for his kind, slightly less personable but starkly more attentive, service. The office is small and his eyeglass selection is limited, but the doctor and staff will take the time to make sure you feel like your trip is a premium, one-on-one extensive eye examination.
Ok.... I wear glasses, my eyes suck now that I'm entering middle age. Age related far sighted stuff. Distance and close up sight has deteriorated. Essentially w/o glasses I'm screwed. Anyway, I had to have emergency surgery on my nose due to a deviated septum. And guess what? No wearing glasses for 6 weeks! What to do??? Contacts? But I was told they wouldn't work for my situation.... So, being a member of a mutual organization, I knew one of the staff (Donna) worked at Dr Somers' shop. In a panic, I went in not expecting to be a candidate for contacts and walked out an hour late SEEING FOR THE FIRST TIME WITHOUT GLASSES. Sorry for the shouting caps but this has changed my life. They were patient throughout the process and the staff (Donn and co) are extremely trained and capable. I have been to several optometrists over the years since I tuned 40 and all have failed to get my repeat business.... My search has stopped with Dr Somers and his staff. Not expensive for being in Santa Monica and the doc is real good at troubleshooting your eyes. He might be a little low key but you will leave seeing razor sharp and life filled with colors...... Thanks guys! Tony
Dr. Somers always kept my prescription up to date and always notified me of any shifts in my severe astigmatism. Dr. Somers also helped me pick the perfect contacts to make sure I wasn't straining my eyes at the computer all day.
Donna, the office manager, makes you feel right at home. She always greets me with a welcoming smile and has a great sense of humor. A true fashionista, she helped me pick out the PERFECT frames that made me feel attractive AND smart AND in my budget!
Only downside: limited parking off busy Wilshire
Dr Somers and Donna take great care of me. Dr Somers is thorough and patient and makes sure you get the right prescription. Donna has a great eye for helping out with picking glasses that fit your face and your style. The selection is good with frames ranging from cost effective to the newest hottest frames. Also they take VSP and insurance and that is a great bonus.
Dr. Somers and Donna are the shining examples of caring professionalism! I can't imagine having anyone else care for my sight.
I find myself only writing reviews for places and things that are either outstanding or horrible. Luckily this is for the former. Dr. Somers is incredibly nice, informative, and extremely professional. I had a very good optometrist prior but always felt like he did not have my best interest at heart. Dr. Somers on the other hand is the patient advocate and what more could you ask for?
I recently went to Dr. Somers in Santa Monica as my eyes were beginning to change and I feared reading glasses were in my near future. Dr. Somers did a thorough exam and after some discussion weighing different options we ended up with progressives. I just picked them up yesterday and I couldn't be happier. What a difference it's already made! It's exactly what I needed and he was very helpful in helping me reach this decision. I recommend Dr. Somers for an easy and professional experience.
Terrific service and good products. We've gone back for new eye exams and glasses several times.
